It is meant to encourage us to go beyond the superficial and search deep into our hearts to see ourselves as Jesus sees us. Jesus’ bold Sermon on the Mount challenges us to understand that God is seeking internal righteousness from us, not just external acts. This is only possible through God’s work to bring new life in us.
